Did you know Hartford was once home to the Kissel Motor Car Company? From 1906 to 1930, Kissel produced luxury automobiles that were known for their quality and style. The company was founded by Louis Kissel and his four sons, and at its peak it employed hundreds of workers.
The Kissel "White Eagle" was a popular model in the 1920s. After the company closed, the factory was sold to West Bend Aluminum Company, which produced war materials during World War II and later made outboard motors under the "Waterwitch" brand.
Today, the Wisconsin Automotive Museum in Hartford houses a large collection of Kissel cars and other vehicles built in the state.

It would be interesting to learn more about the railroads and the importance of the railway industry to Hartford and other small towns in the 1800s and early 1900s.
